The Resolution Revolution

Dr. Stefan Hell is Director, Max Planck Institute for Medical Research & Head, Department of Optical Nanoscopy. Professor Hell received the Kavli Prize in nanoscience in 2014 for his "transformative contributions to the field of nano-optics that have broken long-held beliefs about the limitations of the resolution limits of optical microscopy and imaging.” He also won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry the same year "for the development of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy."
